The gold sluice box is an efficient alternative to panning for gold, allowing the prospector to quickly sift through a much greater volume of sediment. Although many affordable varieties are available to purchase, they are even more affordable to build. With a little knowledge, skill and creativity, a prospector can build a custom sluice box from almost any type of solid material available.
The most commonly used specification for sluice gates in water and wastewater treatment plants is ANSI/AWWA C560-00. This specification should be used as a guidance for gates selection and operating equipment and associated hardware. Example Flow Rate through a Sluice Gate. Water flows under a sluice gate with an opening height of 0.4 m.
This is commonly referred to as an “over-under” recovery system, and remains in popular use today. An over-under system is most commonly accomplished in the same basic sluice box, which is constructed with a removable false bottom. By this, I mean two separate recovery systems, one sitting over top of the other, in the same sluice box.
Jan 09, 2014· Interesting design. I wonder if a design like this could be incorporated into dredges and be a benefit to holding onto mercury and provide an argument against the methal mercury BS. I'm thinking about something like several differnent under current chambers similar to an over under sluice

What are advantages/disadvantages of the flared sluice design How does the flared sluice compared to (input flow) over/under (recovery) sluice An over-under riffle flow system is commonly accomplished in the same basic sluice box, which is constructed with a removable false bot...
UnderFlow Sluice Design, A complete system for Placer Gold/Platinum mining. Ultimate (all) gold recovery up to 99%, depending upon the skill level of the operator. One Cleanline System, No Miners Moss, No Carpets, and No Positive riffles to have to remove and clean for your Gold recovery.
Sep 04, 2014· Newer Keene dredges are over under, but a 3 stage. An over under two stage works very well. I did like my newer keenes, but it took a bit of a learning curve to figure out how to best run the under part for fine gold. The best ever over under was the Keene triple wide sluice design!
These D.I.Y. Sluice boxes are DURABLE & LONG LASTING! Perfect for the person wanting to build their own personalized recovery system for their specific recovery needs. With either 4" or 5" tall sides, they are well suited for an over/under type, 2 or 3 stage sluice for your Dredge, Highbanker, Power sluice, Trommel or Hand sluice.
By doing so, and by placing your sluice where the moving water spills over the top, you might create more than enough water flow through the box to meet your needs. It really does not take very much volume of water through a medium-sized sluice box to get the right amount of velocity, if the water is moved through the box at speed.
Undersluice definition is a sluice covered from view or lying beneath another structure; specifically : a wasteway for sluicing out canals in which the waste escapes beneath other structures. You must — there are over 200,000 words in our free online dictionary, History and Etymology for undersluice. under entry 3 + sluice. Keep
This week I went and asked “how to SIZE a sluice box” to the crew on a large gold prospector forum and other sluice or gravity gold recovery ‘experts’ and gathered the list of emails and forum posts here below. As you will see, in summary, most can optimize or troubleshoot a sluice box but few or none can size a gold sluice box.
Spike Strike Double Deuce Sluice for Gold and Gems, over under design, takes up to 8 shovels of material a minute in good water flow. Spike Strike Double Deuce Sluice for Gold and Gems, over under design, takes up to 8 shovels of material a minute in good water flow.

Some modern sluice boxes are made from plastics, but this is not really an option for the average prospector. The standard design of a sluice box is very simple, and has not really changed much over thousands of years. They basic design is to lay the box in a stream or river, parallel to the flow of water.
This is a medium scale of the underflow river sluice. Includes one classifier that is interchangeable. Preferred size classifier incuded with purchase, the second and third classifiers are an additional charge (classifier size options 3/32", 1/8", 1/4") and three collection traps set at 1 1/2 inch.
one of the most common gates. In order to design a sluice gate it is necessary to determine the head-discharge relationship (Q=f(H)), and the pressure distribution over the gate; this lab will be focused only on the head-discharge relationship. Figure 1 shows the diagram of the flow under a sluice gate, assuming that there are no energy losses.
The gates design as a flow get out under them, so, they called under flow gates which is hydraulically similar to the discharge through orifice, and also it may design to allow the water flows over it, so, the gates called the over flow gates, which is hydraulically similar to the flow over weirs. Because these important, more authors’ deals with
Cast iron sluice gates provide the rigidity — minimum thimble provides maximum strength and rigidity for even the largest sluice gates operating under the most severe conditions. The back side of a Type E thimble can also be drilled to accommodate connection to a flanged pipe. pressures are uniformly distributed over bearing surfaces
Hi, The Klondike Placer Miners Association commissioned what in my opinion is one of the best studies ever done on sluice box design. They actually irradiated gold to make it temporarily radioactive so gold losses could be traced with near 100% accuracy. Some fallacies in current designs are revealed, some common assumptions punctured, and specific suggestions made for improving recovery.
The Sidewinder Sluice has many advantages over conventional, straight trough sluice boxes. It captures Micron Gold, (100 150 mesh), much better than any other sluice because of it's design. Black Sands and other heavy materials can be periodically removed from the Sidewinder while the sluice remains in the water flow path.
Apr 13, 2013· Miners moss has been tested over and over and proven to work. The others probably give very similar performance. there was some rubber matting also at the head of the sluice and under some of the carpet. The miners moss eventually clogged and started missing fine gold after running a few yards. incorporated this combination into the

It is useful to build a simple bridge over the top of the sluice gate to allow the passage of people and light carts or barrows. It can easily be made by assembling

Jul 23, 2013· John, the underflow sluice is not an "over and under" sluice, it only has one level with 2, 3 or more U shaped channels traversing the sluice with an adjustable wall that hangs down into the center of each channel forcing all the material to go under the walls and through the U shaped channels, the gold being heavier stays in the bottom of the U and the lighter materials washes up and out the
Pinched sluice and cones is an inclined trough made of wood, aluminum, steel, and fiber glass, 60–90 cm long. The channel tapers from about 25 cm in width at the feed end to 3 cm at the discharge end. Feed consisting of 50%–65% solids enters the sluice and stratifies as the particles flow through the sluice. The materials squeeze into the narrow discharge area.
terms of its function, the weir is a sluice, i.e. the water does not flow over it, but under it. 4.2 Features of a sluice weir The sluice weir is a relatively simply constructed, and so economical, type of weir. In its simplest form,itconsistsofbeams(1)alignedtransverseto the flow which are borne in U-shaped locators (2)
Best Sluice Box for 2016. You simply need to gather as much substrate as you could and pour them over the sluice box and use water to run them through the layers of mesh. Known for its small and compact design, the Mini Power Sluice Kit is a top option among gold prospectors.

The Expedition is the workhorse of Snake River's product line combining compact design with material processing speed At just under 24″ long and weighing in at 4.1 lbs, it defines portable power! It is 22 inches long at the base and 17 inches wide and allows quick and easy setup of your sluice over a wide range of water heights
The design of p ile-supported structures is covered in EM 1110-2-2906. (2) Intake structures contained within or attached to concrete gravity dams are not addressed in this Reliability under emergency flood conditions is a fundamental operational requirement of outlet works facilities. b. Intake structures.
Sluice gates are widely used for controlling discharge and flow depth in irrigation channels, large sewers, and in hydraulic structures. Due to the practical importance of the sluice gate as a control and metering device, the prediction of the flow characteristics under gates was
